Window Cleaning Checklist

Shine up your home with our window cleaning checklist!

Window cleaning is an essential home maintenance task that helps keep your home’s exterior looking its best. The exact scope of services covered by a basic window cleaning can sometimes be unclear. At Henry’s Services Co, we aim to provide full transparency about the window cleaning process and what homeowners expect to receive.

Window Cleaning Checklist For Home and Business

Keeping windows clean is essential for any home or business. A proper window cleaning checklist will help you during cleaning. Our checklist covers interior and exterior windows and provides a simple routine to follow each time.

Before Your Window Cleaning starts

We will first introduce our crew and present our business card to you. We will also discuss the cleaning process, including the start and finish points, and provide an estimated time for completion. Additionally, we will inquire about any specific areas you would like us to clean, considering any special requirements you may have, such as needing a particular room to be cleaned first due to personal circumstances.

Fall Residential Window Cleaning Checklist

As the weather starts to cool down in the fall season, it’s a great time to clean your home’s windows inside and out. Fall window cleaning helps remove dirt, dust, pollen and other debris accumulated over the summer months. Clean windows will help your home feel brighter and more inviting as the days get shorter. A thorough fall window cleaning should include the following:

  • Remove screens and clean both sides with glass or all-purpose cleaner and microfiber cloth.
  • Inspect window tracks, rollers and locks for debris or damage and lubricate as needed.
  • Clean window frames, sills, and trim with cleaner and cloth.
  • Check for and caulk any cracks or gaps where water could enter.
  • Clean exterior glass with cleaner or vinegar solution and newspaper for a streak-free shine.
  • Inspect caulking and recaulk any areas that look cracked or worn.
  • Check for and repair any broken glass as needed before winter weather arrives.

Commercial Window Cleaning Checklist

Keeping commercial windows clean is essential for several reasons. Clean windows help to provide more natural light into the building, improving the workspace for employees. They also create a positive first impression for customers and clients visiting the business. Dirty windows make a building appear unkept and unprofessional.

Exterior window surfaces – Clean outside glass surfaces with a squeegee or other tool to remove dirt, debris, bird droppings etc.

Interior window surfaces – Wipe interior glass and window frames with a cleaning solution

Window tracks – Remove any dirt or debris from window tracks or frames to ensure smooth opening and closing.

Window seals – Inspect weather seals around windows and repair or replace any damaged seals.

Pressure wash – Use a pressure washer to remove stubborn dirt or grime from dirty exterior windows.

Window wells – Sweep or vacuum out any leaves or debris from window well areas.

Upon finishing the window cleaning

  • Upon finishing the window washing in each room, we will return all furnishings, blinds, curtains, etc., to their original positions.
  • We will inform you when the job is completed and identify any areas that may require future attention, such as hard water stains.
  • We will ensure that all fly screens, windows, and doors are latched as when we arrived.
